Bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg

Kazakhstan and Luxembourg have maintained diplomatic relations since 29 June 1992. Over the years, the two countries have developed a regular political dialogue based on common interests and a shared commitment to multilateralism.

High-level political contacts have intensified in recent years. Heads of State and Government meet regularly at major international events, while several official visits have helped to deepen the bilateral partnership. The exchanges between foreign ministers, as well as the regular political consultations between the two ministries, testify to the quality of the dialogue between Astana and Luxembourg.

Economic cooperation is an important pillar of the bilateral relationship. More than sixty companies with Luxembourgish capital are established in Kazakhstan and new opportunities for cooperation are developing in the fields of transport and logistics, air freight, digital technologies, infrastructure, cloud services and the media. The chambers of commerce of both countries also promote the rapprochement of business circles through economic missions and investment forums.

Relations between the two countries also extend to the cultural, scientific and academic fields. Concerts, artistic performances and film screenings organised in Luxembourg regularly showcase the richness of Kazakh culture. The creation in 2024 of the association of Kazakh students in Belgium and Luxembourg also illustrates the development of human exchanges between the two countries.

On the international scene, Kazakhstan and Luxembourg cooperate closely in international organizations, including the United Nations, the OSCE and UNESCO. The two countries support each other’s candidacies in various international organizations and work together on several initiatives related to sustainable development, global health and regional cooperation.

Guided by a common desire to deepen their partnership, relations between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg continue to be strengthened in the political, economic, cultural and multilateral fields, opening up new prospects for cooperation to the benefit of both countries.
