Mr. Thomas Reisen, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Kazakhstan, concludes his tenure with a working visit to Astana on 2-3 June

During his visit, Ambassador Reisen met with Ms. Sholpan Shynassylova, Director of the European Department at the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was an opportunity to discuss Luxembourg’s bilateral relations with Kazakhstan and to address a whole range of multilateral and regional issues.
 

The visit was also an opportunity to meet with the Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Talgat Lastaev, at a moment when Cargolux resumed regular flights to Astana. Currently the Luxembourg company operates up to 14 transits per week.

During his visit, Ambassador Reisen met with Mr. Denis Van den Weghe, the President of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce, to discuss upcoming activities of the Chamber.

Also, during his visit to Astana, on 3 June 2026, Mr. Thomas Reisen presented Mr. Marc Bassot with his letters of provision as a Honorary Consul in Almaty, with jurisdiction over the Republic of Kazakhstan. Mr. Bassot will contribute to further develop the longstanding and fruitful relationship between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
